Casa Kimball
for $4,000/day or a mere $24,500/week you can escape the monotony of life and relax in an other worldly setting in the Caribbean. the infinity pool alone had me salivating, much less the cliff side jacuzzi or the extravagant interior. Casa Kimball, the newest entry on my vacation getaway list.
Castello di Vicarello
while we're on the subject of fantastic retreats, i'd like to introduce you to Castello di Vicarello in Maremma, Tuscany... the hideout Pacino would have preferred. from The Cool Hunter:
Castello di Vicarello is the kind of place you dream about. Movies and novels describe such places but you don’t really believe they exist. Too good to be true. But Castello di Vicarello is definitely real and it has been so since 1100. The castle sits on a hill overlooking the Maremma countryside in southern Tuscany, and it offers absolutely everything that any of your senses would want of a Tuscan vacation.
The Islands of Copperfield Bay
David Copperfield may very well have created heaven on earth. i don't know what more to say. this place looks jaw-droppingly beautiful and serene. your own personal sanctuary, the Islands of Copperfield Bay are everything you've ever dreamed of! from the site:
Private sun warms your face and private waves lap your feet. A private moon lights your plate, and private seas surround you. this is Musha Cay and the Islands of Copperfield Bay. Surely it's one of the most secluded spots on earth, yet everything you want is provided... then quietly, unobtrusively, replenished.
Doin’ it Baja
motorcycles, the wild west south of the border, dust in your eyes and wind in your hair. in an eight part series on Vice, Patrick O'Dell documents the journey these man's men took. very nice!
Doin’ It Baja chronicles the 2200 mile motorcycle trip taken by Arto Saari, Heath Kirchart, Keegan Sauder, and Patrick O"Dell from San Diego to the tip of Baja California, Mexico. They were joined by friends Harvey Foster, Kynan Tait, and Hime Hu, and lead by the indomitable Bill Bryant.
i wish these guys were my friends. what an epic trip.
Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore

Coast no Coast
Coast no Coast is an epic journey of 2200km (approx. 1300 miles) from Vancouver to Mexico on Milwaukee Bruiser fixed gear bikes... so rad! can't wait for the documentary!
Soneva Kiri – Six Senses, Thailand
so it's June and still cloudy in Seattle... i decided to post my mental escape for the day: Soneva Kiri, a Six Senses spa in Thailand. i want to have dinner in the dining pod! your waiter serves you via zipline.
The Fruit Hunters
The Fruit Hunters is a magical book about man's journey to document fruits that never make it to the modern marketplace. in a society where our fruits are increasingly losing flavor and becoming homogenized, the book and the upcoming documentary are an eye opening account of the bountiful fruits across the world that most of us have never pondered. somewhere along the way i read a quote as saying something to the effect of, "Willy Wonka's got nothin on this!" have you ever heard of a fruit that "smells kind of lemony, but tastes like a banana, custard, sherbet, pineapple all rolled into one"? see the trailer for the documentary below!
for those of you interested in the documentary's specs, read what HotDocs has to say. be sure to also take a peek at the Adam Gollner's, the author, personal photos from his explorations!
Strand Craft 122 Yacht
*achem*, really? wow...from GT Spirit (and more photos on their site):
Swedish yacht builder Strand Craft is planning a new 14.000 horsepower super yacht. The new yacht includes a built-in garage with additional supercar located at the stern of the ship. The ‘Tender’ will be powered by a twin turbo V12 engine producing up to 880hp and reaches a top speed of 370km/h (230mph).
The yacht is 122 foot (38 meters) long, features an Art Deco interior, several salon ares, crew carbins and four double staterooms. Every cabin is equipped with 52 inch LED tv’s and Bang Olufsen sound systems. Two MTU 16V4000 Rolls Royce engines each developing 4610hp catapult the ship to a top speed of 50 knots.
The price for the yacht unknown at this stage, but definitely one of the most expensive garages on water.
