RETNA & EL MAC: Of Our Youth
RETNA and EL MAC put up serious murals. impressed with the work they did on the RVCA headquarters, the skate company turned their video cameras on the duo again as the paint sprayed on the Graphaids art supply store in Culver City. the piece was inspired by Ralph Woodruff aka "Chato", a man the pair met while spending time in Skid Row. despite the hardships he's encountered, Chato reamains optimistic and it was his disposition on life that encouraged the two to create the piece above. The text was taken from a conversation they had with Chato and reads, “So today I’m trying to change a few things to rectify the situation of my past. So today I’m looking towards the future (of our youth highlighted).”

the latest in BANKSY's North American road trip is this piece in NYC. for those who haven't been tracking BANKSY's whereabouts, after his debut of Exit Through The Gift Shop in L.A., the illusive artist went on to San Francisco (Alcatraz!), Seattle, Toronto, Detroit and now NYC.
Guerilla Paint Action: Berlin
last week, a group of cyclists dumped 13 gallons of paint in a busy intersection of Berlin. as vehicles drove through, they created colorful lines! signs were posted around the area, informing people that the paint was not harmful to the environment and would wash off with water.

my girlfriend and i checked out Exit Through The Gift Shop this weekend and i TOTALLY recommend it to everyone!! while outside the Harvard Exit Theatre, we noticed this lovely piece... i so hope the man himself left the piece!
