Lissie – Pursuit of Happiness (live)
man... i've been meanin to share Lissie with ya'll for a long time now... i really love her style; love her down home feelin. the song above is a cover of Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness... and she TOTALLY kills it. totally kills it. her rendition seriously makes me want to quit my job.
Gorillaz – On Melancholy Hill
the Gorillaz pretty much have the most awesome music videos ever. thanks to Fubiz for putting this video out there!
The Heavy – Sixteen
just realized The Heavy is coming to town with Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings... on a Monday night. i might just have to stay out past my bedtime to listen to some good 'ol soul!
The Young Friends
The Young Friends are a fantastic duo recreating 50's era beachy pop to great effect. surprisingly, the two are only 17 and 18 years old! if you're a fan of the song above, you can download the mp3 for free over at Moodgadget - you can also stream the album for free! if you're not ready for summer, you will be after listening to The Young Friends!
Rolling Stones – Plundered My Soul
i'm pleased with We Heart's description... soo good:
Throwing up considerably more highlights than usual – a new track from Blur amongst those – this year’s ‘Record Store Day’ also saw a 7″ release of ‘Plundered My Soul’, a lost track from the Stones’ 1972 classic ‘Exile On Main St.’… If you’re a fan, as we most certainly are, of said ‘72 classic, then you’ll be far from disappointed with this typically laid back, raw blues. Equally brilliant is the accompanying video, courtesy of Jonas Odell (Nexus Productions / FilmTecknarna), that uses the album’s iconic cover as a basis for a beautiful vintage footage montage… presenting the Stones at their most unnervingly cool…..
unnervingly cool... yeah man....
Kid Koala – Gorillaz Routine
ten years ago, Kid Koala worked with the Gorillaz on their self-titled album.... however, the song was never released. so Kid Koala incorporated the Gorillaz into his routine, creating the Gorillaz Routine. very niiice. AAAAaaaand if you like Kid Koala remotely as much as i do, you'll definitely appreciate this free mixtape: The Slew: 100%.
Dead Meadow: Three Kings (feature film and LP)
ooh, this looks niiiice... reminiscent of a psychedlic rock past. feature film to be released this month! directed by Artificial Army. from Dead Meadow's site:
Three Kings feature full-length old-school concert movie with soundtrack. The film consists of footage from Dead Meadow's last LA hometown show after a five-month tour. intermingled with vignettes that abstractly depict themes of corruption, destruction, and rebirth the bad portrays the Tree Kings who are the silent watchers of their world. North American and European tour to follow.
“There is a California myth about these cloaked spirit characters on the coast. Lost souls from another time and world who are trapped here and watch us for one reason or another, I guess depending on your view you are either lucky or not to run into one.”
