Mad Men: Behind the Scenes
Rolling Stone has a great set of photos from behind the scenes of Mad Men. i couldn't resist posting the image above - new technology in an old setting. the rest of the photos are just as entertaining and give a glimpse of the creative direction behind the show.
Andrew Zuckerman
Andrew Zuckerman's books portray animals in striking beauty. the majestic nature of the creatures are shown in crisp color and natural movement. check out Birds (above) or Creature (below), both are spectacular and can be purchased from Amazon.

Marquis Montes: Heidi Marie
i adore everything about this one. photographer Marquis Montes created this video while conducting a photo shoot. the classic feel and elegance of the piece is unmistakable. partnered with a quality soundtrack, the substance of the video far surpasses that of the photos taken from the same shoot. a superb production all around!
nano DSLR Rigs
short films and documentaries are featured often on Dr. SeussJuice. as the site progresses, i am attempting to locate tools of the trade to help aspiring filmmakers accomplish their goals. although a bit pricey for plastic ($100-600), the nano DSLR Rigs are a perfect example of the type of equipment that can lend a competitive edge and move one's films from the good category to the great. we often see a great deal of camera shake from low budget filmmakers that results in distractions and takes away from the power of the piece. when the intent is not to produce a Blair Witch style indie horror film but convey a sense of professionalism to coincide with the subject matter, a little help in the way of stability is always a good thing.
Jesse Brew
with so many digital cameras available today the title "photographer" tends to be tossed about so frequently that the reputation of true creative types can easily be tarnished until their portfolio is displayed. Jesse Brew's body of work is well developed and all though some graphic work is involved, the photography is far above par. Jesse is not your average photographer.
RETNA & EL MAC: Of Our Youth
RETNA and EL MAC put up serious murals. impressed with the work they did on the RVCA headquarters, the skate company turned their video cameras on the duo again as the paint sprayed on the Graphaids art supply store in Culver City. the piece was inspired by Ralph Woodruff aka "Chato", a man the pair met while spending time in Skid Row. despite the hardships he's encountered, Chato reamains optimistic and it was his disposition on life that encouraged the two to create the piece above. The text was taken from a conversation they had with Chato and reads, “So today I’m trying to change a few things to rectify the situation of my past. So today I’m looking towards the future (of our youth highlighted).”
Olaf Wipperfurth
Olaf Wipperfurth's photography is world renowned. having created works for major fashion magazines such as Italian Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair and others, the German born photographer is accustomed to capturing beautiful people and evoking raw emotion in his subject matter. if you're remotely interested in fashion photography, spend 20 min in Wipperfurth's portfolio to gather some inspiration or revel in what you could be doing better.
Dowling Duncan – New Money

graphic design firm Dowling Duncan is causing quite a stir with their entry into this year's Dollar ReDe$ign competition. flamboyant colors reminiscent of the motherland are just the tip of the iceberg. what seems to be really ruffling feathers is Obama on the one dollar bill. regardless of the imagery, their take on the bills is remarkably advanced and thoughtful. for instance, they investigated the ways in which consumers use bills and found that a vertical note is far more conducive to monetary transactions than a horizontal one. they're also taking a step forward with their proposition by teaching people a bit of history - like on the $10 bill, where the Bill of Rights are listed.
Space Helmet Reflections
i'm diggin this collection of space helmet reflections and i love Thom York's expression. long live exploration!
