The PUMA Index

haha!  YES!  at least one marketing group has figured out how to garner more attention during this recession!! The PUMA Index:

The PUMA Index is a global stock ticker with a twist. When the market goes down, our models’ clothes come off – right down to their PUMA Bodywear. So if you lose your shirt, at least they do too.

so i’m browsing around the web… decide to take a look and see what The Cool Hunter people are up to and find myself clicking on their sister site, Dear God.  the site is filled with depressing prayers to God however, i happen to find myself reading a post in the humor section (post below/picture above) – one gentleman’s consultation with Jesus on rebranding their image…

The Crucifix Thing Died When Madonna Set Them On Fire For Pepsi

Dear God,I have one word for you, dude: Vision.Having been in the ad game since the days when the right length pony tail got you an executives position, I can tell you a thing or two about your brand. Firstly, your PR guys are bad for your image. No one wants to do business with hypocrites so until your boys in the robes can start behaving themselves, your organization is going to suffer image problems.Secondly, cut the hair and lose the beard. I’m seeing a short back and side and at the very least a goatee for you. Thirdly, the crucifix thing died when Madonna set them on fire for Pepsi. I’m thinking we go for a octagon in a nice shade of fushia. Finally we need to condense the Old and New Testament into an online blog and YouTube a few miracles if you want to reach those selfish little Gen Y assholes. Those pricks live online and have plenty to go to confession for, but its gotta come to them so confesstube, may be something to think about.I do consultancy works for $1800 an hour . No personal cheques, I don’t care who you are.leon Stellar, Orion Media Partners – New York/USA

Leo Burnett Advertising

Batman

so here’s the deal: everybody is sick of seeing advertisements. they’re in our face all the time and rarely do they target us in a way that encourages further consideration.  but every once in awhile, you run into an ad that is so clever it surprises you.  Leo Burnett is making those ads. the one above is for Directv – watch things whenever you want (the Dark Night in the middle of the day… hehe).  even if you don’t like clever advertisements, you should check out their website – it’s so fun to play with!

Art & Copy (Trailer)

by L.A. on Apr.28, 2009, under video

this looks really good!  a film about the most respected advertisers.  from Josh Spear:

The San Francisco International Film Festival running now through May 7 features the West Coast premiere of “Art & Copy“, a feature-length documentary celebrating the work and careers of legendary advertisers. Stories about the creation of campaigns including Mary Wells’ colorful Braniff Airlines rebrand, Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein’s “Got Milk?”, and TBWA\Chiat\Day’s Lee Clow’s “1984″ commercial and current iPod ads are lovingly told. Doug Pray, who also directed the surf and family story “Surfwise,” doesn’t let many details about the industry’s origins or its current tastemakers escape him, whether in the form of staggering numbers about annual global ad spending or anecdotes about Madison Avenue agency Doyle Dane Bernbach (now referred to as DDB), which first paired copy writers and art directors and encouraged them to collaborate on print messaging.
